Congratulations to MMA’s 2020 CIAB Intern Scholarship Winners!

Annually, the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) awards academic scholarships through The Council Foundation to promising interns in our industry. To date, over $1,000,000 has been awarded to deserving college students.

The Council Foundation’s mission is to bring fresh, diverse talent into the brokerage sector by way of internships with member firms of CIAB. In awarding the scholarships, an independent selection committee looks for candidates who have the potential to excel as leaders and contributors in the commercial insurance brokerage business sector.

MMA interns have received $110,000 in scholarship totals over the past four years. This year, three of MMA’s summer externs were each the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship for their 2020-21 academic year. They are:

In January 2018, The Council Foundation established this fund with backing from Oberkircher’s colleagues and friends in the insurance community to grow the Foundation’s impact and honor his legacy through scholarships. This year, John Reilly, who completed his externship with MMA Marsh McLennan Agency, was named the Dave Oberkircher Future Leader Scholar. Alexandra Carty, who completed her externship with MMA Florida, was named the Franklin Wheeler Scholar.
